Trans Representation in Literature.

Trans literature is not new; it has been a subject for a long time through works such as Ovid’s Metamorphoses and Virginia Woolf’s Orlando. Then came the biographies and memoirs, Man into Woman by Lili Elbe, Kate Bornstein’s Gender Outlaw, Casey Plett’s A Safe Girl to Love, and many more that I could easily enumerate, but the list would be lengthy. Suffice it to say that there is representation in the world of literature, from biographies and memoirs to fiction and children’s books and scientific and sociological books written by… Read more Trans Representation in Literature.

Reviews Needed!

Dear friends, my memoir “Breaking Free; 45 years in the wrong body” could really use reviews to help generate a more substantial online presence. Since signing on with Brainspired Publishing, all the positive reviews on Amazon disappeared, and I’m left with just a new revue that manages to misgender me (I wish I knew how to delete it). It is traumatizing to check on Amazon and see that review. Now, it’s not my publishers’ fault, not at all. I had to delete the old link so that they could set… Read more Reviews Needed!

Excerpt from Breaking Free: 45 Years in the wrong body

Excerpt from Breaking Free: 45 Years in the wrong body.

Even as a child, I knew that I was different than how I physically presented. Not with any clarity, mind you, but I did know there was something about me that was off. It seemed to me that I somehow had the wrong pieces. Yes, I was a puzzle with pieces belonging to another box.

Second Book on the way!

I am so happy to announce that this second book ” Circé’s Art: a post transition evolution “, different from the first one which is a memoir and yet so intimately attached to it since it is also about my transition and identity as a woman. This time, it will be through my paintings that I document and visually narrate my views and awareness of certain aspects of coming into my own as a woman. The paintings from 2001 onwards speak to my evolution since transitioning, as a woman of… Read more Second Book on the way!

Coming to grips with me.

As many humans, I have this tendency of not really seeing or fully acknowledging my worth, I am self-deprecating and don’t always understand that who and what I am has value, is valuable. Being an artist, I’ve created so many paintings over the years and though I know I’m pretty good at what I do, more often than not I find I’m not good enough, not creatively or technically, I seem to judge what I’ve created as somehow of lesser value than it is. I am catching myself, trying to… Read more Coming to grips with me.

Trusting my story to my co-writer.

and trusting myself to put it out there. I first began writing my story because of a need to better understand myself, a bit like I have a habit of doing when working on a painting, I will get up from the easel and back away some ten feet and just relax and look at what I have done and then decide on one thing I really want to change in order to improve upon the painting, I do this throughout and it has served me well. I mention the… Read more Trusting my story to my co-writer.

Another Trans memoir, maybe not.

I look upon my memoirs as a throwback genre of how women such as myself used to write their memoirs , mainly about childhood and when I knew I was a female in the wrong body, about the transition. Then I read my story and discover that it’s so much more than this, my life, even as it relates to being trans from birth, speak to adventures I’ve had along the way, my memoirs are filled with all manner of events, usually having little to nothing to do with being… Read more Another Trans memoir, maybe not.
